QDC MP 3.4 + AS 1926.1 compliance checklist.

  • 1200mm minimum vertical height measured from finished ground outside the fence.
  • 900mm climbable zone — no climbable objects between 100mm and 1500mm above ground within 900mm of the fence (no pot plants, A/C units, garden beds, kids’ chairs, paver steps).
  • Gate self-closing from any 0-90° angle — tested with the gate pulled to fully open.
  • Self-latching at minimum 1500mm latch height.
  • Max 100mm gap under fence at any point along the length.
  • Max 100mm gap between vertical members.
  • Glass to AS 1288 + AS 2208 (toughened safety glass).
  • Spigot fixings into structurally-sound substrate (paver-on-sand is not acceptable; needs paver-on-concrete or in-ground concrete pad).

Form 23 Pool Safety Certificate cycle.

  • Certificate valid 2 years for sale, 1 year for rental.
  • Inspector audits against current QDC MP 3.4 standard (not the standard at original install).
  • Pre-listing audit (we do this) catches non-compliance 2-4 weeks before settlement — gives time to remediate without delaying.
  • Most common failures: gate hinge corrosion, 900mm zone violations, gap-under-fence violations, latch height.
