Standard 304 stainless shows visible rust within 6–12 months. Even 316 stainless requires regular maintenance. We spec marine-grade 316L stainless with electropolished finish (resists salt better than standard 316), and we recommend annual cleaning + polishing service to keep hardware looking new.
